water accumulation in crawl space discovered while preparing to move in--water has been absorbed but left behind a smelly sludge--what can we do to prevent large accumulation of mold??

ventilate to dry it out. Without moisture, mold spores will remain dormant.

With the better weather here, even use a fan to help if necassary.

Now find out why it is getting wet and take steps to prevent it from re-occurring.
