We live in an apartment that has suffered water damage no less than 5 times in the past six months.

Each time the complex sent someone out, we asked about the possibility of mold, given the time lapse between the time we reported the problem and the time it was actually addressed.

Each time we were told that mold was not an issue.

During the same time frame, we started experiencing respiratory problems, such as multiple and ongoing infections.

We also experienced nausea, asthma like symptoms, edema and coughing up bloody mucus in the last several weeks.

We decided to test for mold ourselfs, using one of the home test kits.

The test's came back positive for Penicillium and Cladosporium.

I was able to get into my doctor right after we received the test results back, and she confirmed that all of our symptoms can be caused by either of those molds.

So, what do I do next? Do I need to start doing some invasive investigation of the apartment, at the sites of the water damage, or should I just call my lawyer?

Thanks for the great site, and any suggestions any one can provide.

It breaks my heart to answer these kind of posts!

I've been there and done that!

Here's a brochure that pretty much tells everything I know about mold and it's effects!

Read that - It's a long article ( 33 pages ) and tell me if it answers your questions!
