Hello.. just a quick question.. I know to be considered a bedroom, it has to have a closet.. but what is considered a closet? does it have to have a door on it or can an open closet still work? We are converting an attic into 2 bedrooms and have closet spaces in each room, but the doors would have to be odd shaped because of the pitch of the ceiling. So.. for appraisals and resale purposes in the far future.. do we have to put doors on them or can we leave them as open door casings?

Good question. The only reason I would want a door on a closet is to hide the clutter. Many walk in closets don't have doors.
Sometimes a design change can allow for a door. I had a similar problem with a bachelor suite I built above my garage but a simple design change in the layout allowed for a pocket door to just fit.
Have fun.
