The Centers for Disease Control and the Department of Health are concerned about the aftermath along the Gulf Coast as residents return to homes flooded by rising waters.

While toxic mold has gotten a lot of attention, common mold sports can be very irritating to those who are sensitive.

Here's what inhaling or touching spores can do.

"You may have difficulty swallowing, infections of the pharynx, in the lungs, you may have symptoms of wheezing such as with asthma," Dr. Frank Astor, ear, nose & throat specialist, said, "shortness of breath or you can also have coughing. In the eyes, you may have redness and skin may become red or blistery."

Large cleanup jobs will require professional help.

You want to make sure there are no sports in your air condition system or vents.

For tips on how to control mold, go the Environmental Protection Agency's Web site.
