My hardwood floor is worn down in certain areas from traffic of big dogs it is also stained in some areas from dog pee also cracked from the same problem, how can I make it better ?

OxyClean makes a pretty killer product that you can use to clean the hardwood floor and let it seep into the floor that kills any odors from the pets.

Then it just elbow grease from there.

Sand it and re-stain

Good answer from Jimmy.
The only thing I might add is that if you don't have experience using a floor sander, you might want to think of hiring a professional. These floor sanders can make the job much easier or because of their power, can make the job harder. Once you put a gouge in the hardwood, its very difficult to fix.
