I have aluminum soffit and fascia as well as aluminum wrapped windows. The aluminum chalk has ran onto the bricks and stained them.

I tried powerwashing (w/ fan tip), chlorine, muriatic acid, and some commercial grade all purpose cleaner and I still haven't had any luck getting it off.

I hope to find an inexpensive way to clean it since I'm not in the position to remove all of the aluminum yet!

Any help that you can provide is much appreciated!
Thanks!
-Mark D.

This chalking as you may know, is caused by the old paint oxidizing. The paint is breaking down due to weathering; UV, moisture, etc. Once the coating starts to chalk, it will continue to oxidize even though you wash it. The only way stop the oxidation is to cover the original paint with a new paint, preferrably an exterior acrylic. You are already one step ahead having washed it. The old paint provides a good base for the new paint to bond to. It may seem like a lot of work, but there is no easy way. A good paint sprayer works wonders.

A tip to prevent aluminum railings from chalking is to use a good car polish. The railings will always look like new.

Thanks Bart! Do you know how to get the stains from the aluminum off of the brick?

It's not easy to get rid of the chalk and the porosity of the brick may dictate the method. Sand brick for example is more porous than clay brick. You have already tried washing with acid, etc.
There are brick stains available and sand blasting is another method. The stains only work properly on certain kinds of brick. You would have to experiment.
