We have an old house that has 2 exterior doors that open outward. We are unable to reconfigure the doors to open to the inside because of the way the room is built. My question is this, other than a dead bolt (this would be very difficult to install on these doors because of the entry supports) is there a type lock and knob that can not be opened with a credit card or screw driver, etc. I don't mind using a key for entry however I absolutely want something that would be very difficult to open with anything other than a key. We are planning on installing the hidden hindges to avoid having the pins on the outside like they are now. My problem is finding a lock set that will keep someone out of the house.

Consider installing a steel plate with carriage bolts to cover the area over the latch which will prevent the use of a credit card or the like. Carriage bolts cannot be removed unless the door is open. You may have to get one made up to fit but shouldn't be too expensive.
You may have seen a similar setup on commercial doors.
