We painted our 20 x 24 sundeck with spandex deck paint. However, every year there are hundreds of little cracks appearing that then have to be fixed. Is there anything out there to solve this problem short of tearing it all up and redoing the deck in fiberglass or vinyl.

This cracking could be caused by shrinking or drying of the product too fast which can happen if applied in extreme heat.

Shrinkage can be caused by applying the material too thick. More thin coats are better than 1 heavy coat.

That would be an easy resolution, but the deck does not crack until winter comes. I think it has to do with the plywood expanding and contracting. We are simply stumped as to how to get it to stop doing that. Is there anyting that can be applied over top of the spandex so we can resurface it?

Usually plywood shrinkage manifests itself at the plywood seams not hundreds of little cracks....a bit of a mystery.

This is one of those situations where it is difficult making an analysis without actually viewing the problem.
Some photos might help.

Wish I could make more suggestions.
