Hello -
I'm toying with the idea of having a radiant floor installed in my living room. These may seem like stupid questions but I'm not sure whether it's worth pursuing or not.

1. Can a radiant floor be installed under laminate?

2. Do I need to have a professional install it for me or is this something I can do myself?

3. Is it true that I don't need to heat the entire room; just an area in the center? I'm guessing you wouldn't really need to heat under furniture, TV stand, etc, correct? A radiant floor will radiate the heat out to the boundaries of the room anyway, right?

4. Can a timer be hooked up to the radiant floor thermostat?

Any information or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

1. Can a radiant floor be installed under laminate? yes

2. Do I need to have a professional install it for me or is this something I can do myself? depends on how good a DIY'R you are. I would recommend a professional for this particular job.

3. Is it true that I don't need to heat the entire room; just an area in the center? I'm guessing you wouldn't really need to heat under furniture, TV stand, etc, correct? A radiant floor will radiate the heat out to the boundaries of the room anyway, right?
depends on how well your house is insulated, you could get cold spots.

4. Can a timer be hooked up to the radiant floor thermostat? yes
