When installing the planks(the part you walk on when your done). Would it matter to you if the the side facing up that everyone sees has the stamp on it from the lumber yard or would you just put the best side of the board up regardless of the stamp or not? I have been debating it with my wife and I prefer the stamp side down. What is customary? Thanks.

I guess it depends whether you are painting the boards or leaving them clear.
If the side opposite to the stamped name is bad, you could always sand the name off with a palm sander or by hand which I have done in the past.
We often do this to red cedar which we use a lot of to remove some imperfections or rough areas. Palm sanders work great on cedar, redwood and pine.
