the kids cracked the glass on a small 2 pane window [ 8"x28" ] on one side of my front door . only outside pane is cracked....it has a wood frame and house was built in 1985.I can't see how this window comes out of the frame . do I have to replace complete window [frame and glass] or is there a way of getting just the 2 pane sealed unit out of the wood frame and installing a new one.....thx.

The wood frame should have a molding securing the glass panel in place. Remember, it had to be put in there in the first place. Different window manufactureres have different ways of doing this. They may be secured with nails, screws, clips or even a caulking sealant. It may not be evident because the moldings are usually very tight fitting and not easy to remove.
