Recently, I've noticed the water in our toilet bowl drops over time when not used. It never really fills up that high when flushed but if it's not used overnight, for example, the water level in the morning appears to have dropped a fair amount. It has me a little puzzled since there isn’t any leak anywhere around the bowl or tank.

Does anyone have any idea as to what specifically could be causing this? I'm about ready to replace the entire works in the tank but if there's some specific part that would fix it I'd appreciate the much easier solution and job. Also, how do I get the bowl to fill up higher after flushing? Will correcting the first problem invariably correct the water level after flushing as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

the symptoms sound like you may have a bad flush valve. It could cause the level to go down if it doesn't seal properly at the same time lowering the level of the reservior letting less water in when you flush.
The float could also be adjusted.

Thank you for your help! I was a little puzzled as to what could be causing it. I flushed other toilets in the house and the problem toilet's water never moved - thus probably ruling out a clogged vent. I also tried pouring a bucket of water into the bowl and letting it set for a few days without use. The water level slowly dropped. I was beginning to believe it may be a bad trap in the bowl and that I'd have to replace the entire toilet. Is this still a possiblity? I'll try what you suggest first. It's sounds very logical and would be a lot cheaper (and easier) than replacing the entire toilet. Thank you!
